Decision to change is horror. It's never easy, and never comfort. Do you resonate with this statement?

In year 2000, I set foot in Singapore, where the creative industry is blooming. Little did I know that a decision leads me to spend 2 decade of my life time in Singapore. From web designer to creative director, from web design to anime festival. 

​

In 2018, I have a chance to expose to the incredible industry in Malaysia. The decision of coming back to Malaysia is rather quick as I always have an unfulfilled life goal which is to take on the family path and searching for a great retirement planning. How can I thrive in Malaysia as a designer?

​

Changing career course in the mid life is no easy. What lies In front of me are an unknown frontier, a challenge that I have to take on, because I duly noted that this path will lead me to an ultimate goal of great retirement and breaking out from the rat race, a 9-5 circle which you fulfilled others dream with your hard work.

“ I have to make it”. This is the only words in my head when I first started. Literally from zero.

​

With the determination to change, I start to listen and learn the new direction that was given to me, the full one-one, group to group training which I never experienced in my working life.

​

Starting from 2019, my income jumped almost 120% in 2020 from ZERO. A path that I never see coming so soon that initially my plan is to take 5 years to make back my lost of giving up my income in Singapore. (my last drawn salary in Singapore is a 5 figure pay) I follow what has been shared to me, the consistency and the believe I have with the business with absolute solid process to growth in knowledge and information.

Believe or not, the PASSIVE INCOME that I once not believed it, actually proved me wrong from my payslip, from 2020 through 2021, that even I slow down my work or even not working, my income does not decrease, but increase. NOW. This is something you want to look into, regardless how unfavourable you are on a business, lack of experience or confident, because this is the way that will help you to go through this challenging time with assistance from others, from the community we grow.

We have been there When we set our dream board. To travel around the world. How often did that dream really happened? No, it's not the question now if I can travel with pandemic. Is more on, I can choose not to travel and still have the capability to plan for one in the future. Is the CAPABILITY. 5 PLACES, a year. And still having income while travel? Now, that's something you probably want to understand. What a career that allows you to do that?

A designer that can, and able to switch career in his 40's and thrive in the new career? I have no secret. Only if you want me to keep it to myself.

"What drives you?

Ego or reality?"

This is not a sales talk. But a real case, from a real successful case study I am sharing with you. Probably there are more, in the industry I am in. Ego has been part of me, way back when I am a designer. I hold that a lot. However, through time, I learned. Facing the reality and accepting things that challenged me, is better than holding that ego and go down with it over time.
 

Do you really need to work as what you study first? What if the market doesn't allow you to do what you want to? What if there are no opportunity or maybe there is, but it consume your most valuable thing in life, TIME. Time can do wonders. So, probably accepting new things is what one should do now, learn and gain knowledge from everywhere. Be a person that will survived through the reality of time, the unforeseen circumstances of  the global pandemic?

Will you continue to take your time to hunt for the best house to fit your beautiful chair, or, should you starts to learn how to build one that can immediately give you a shield of income?
